Hey there. Glad you could stop by! I’m a creative professional who has been developing websites since the late 1990’s, and now seems as good a time as any to design a website where you can learn a little about me. I started my career as an inexperienced graphic designer working in London, England for Orange Amplifiers, but through the years as my skills have developed, I’ve worn many hats. These days, I’m based north of Atlanta, USA, and I’m primarily concerned with software architecture, art direction and leading creative teams in the development of remarkable things.
Systems Architect
I’ve always been a fan of systems. Building systems helps us operate more efficiently, and great systems can unlock the potential of the people working within them. With this attitude and a background in web development, it wasn’t entirely unexpected when I transitioned into software architecture. What do you do when the SaaS platforms procured by your organization hold people back? Well, you build your own software instead! I’m looking forward to writing more on this topic, but in the meantime, you can read a white paper I wrote on behalf of the City of Sandy Springs.
Creative Director
While I spend more time leading teams than producing creative directly these days, I feel that to be an effective art director, you need to be able to understand every team member’s role and be hands on with help when needed. My skill set includes graphic design, front-end design, UX, photography, video production and music production.
The creative process is critical, and my teams start each project by identifying target audiences and the thoughts and feelings we want to elicit from them. By collaborating with stakeholders early in the process, we ensure our creative briefs are meaningful which in turn unleashes the team’s creativity while focusing them on successful outcomes.
Public Speaking
I am available for public speaking engagements on a variety of topics. I have had the pleasure of speaking at technology conferences, colleges and digital development webinars. It is extremely satisfying when the thoughts I share spark ideas and conversations which in turn lead to new friendships.
